Business Development Executive

Reporting to: Sales Manager

Based at: Matlock Mill, Hamilton Way, Nottingham NG18 5BU

Purpose: To plan and carry out sales and marketing activities in

order to maintain and develop sales to worldwide clients and suppliers in accordance with agreed business plans.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development Executive to join an established and successful procurement specialist.


As a Business Development Executive, you will manage your own portfolio of new and existing global clients across a wide range of industries.    Working with an extensive supplier database, you will be providing expert procurement solutions to our clients.


You will be working closely with clients and suppliers, developing relationships and partnerships.  You will target opportunities, present solutions and negotiate deals - this exciting role will develop your strong commercial awareness.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account support, and liaison with internal Account Managers.
  • Maintain and develop a computerised customer and prospect database.
  • Plan and carry out direct sales and marketing activities to agreed sales and profitability targets.
  • Respond to and follow up all sales enquiries by telephone, email, Skype and personal visits when deemed necessary.
  • Monitor and report on activities, and provide relevant customer/supplier information.
  • When directed, carry out market research including (but not restricted to) competitors, customers and suppliers.
  • Liaise and attend all sales related meetings necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
  • Attend all training activities (on and off-site) to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Any other ad hoc duties deemed necessary and requested by a manager.
